    Description

Here is a Winnie the Pooh doll made by Agnes Brush from around the 1950's. He is made up in tan brushed cotton or flannel with wooden bead eyes and kapok stuffing. His black cloth nose was sewn as part of the pattern for the head and is wearing a red sweater. Agnes Brush was an American maker from White-stone, Long Island, New York who produced the characters from around 1944 til the early 1960's. Based on Ernest Shepard's illustrations, the foot-high replicas were designed in an affectionate and whimsical manner. Hand-sewn out of flannel and felt, the dolls were very much an American craft in the soft-rag doll tradition. Nine characters were made and first sold to book stores, followed by department stores: Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga and Roo, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl and Heffalump. The dolls are rarely found in Europe.
Disney acquired the rights to Winnie the Pooh in 1961 and have produced a vast array of related merchandise over the years. No two Poohs are alike.
You can see that Pooh has been well loved but he is still in great condition for his age.  He measures approximately 14" high.
