    Description

This 1975 Brazilian coin looks like it's probably uncirculated.  It’s just stunning in condition and design in my opinion.   It was made of stainless steel.   All photos are of the exact coin on this auction, just with different lighting and backgrounds.
This coin was issued in participation of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s international coin program (F.A.O.) that was designed to bring awareness to the organization’s work in promoting growing more food for an increasing population.  Each FAO coin was to have an agricultural crop on it.
One side has “Brasil" and the profile of a lovely woman.  The other side has the year 1975, Soja (soy), denomination 2 Centavos, lettering ALIMENTOS PARA O MUNDO.  This side also includes the engraving of a soybean plant.  Ironically, the cultivation of this plant has resulted in the deforestation of a large part of the world’s rainforest in the Amazon.
