Item Description
The Latex-ite Airport Grade Driveway Filler Sealer is an asphalt emulsion-based low-VOC formula designed to beautify and protect your blacktop driveway. This non-skid sealer fills hairline cracks (1/8 in. or less) and is polymer fortified for added durability. Helpful hints before you seal your driveway: 1) Purchase an extra pail: any unused portion can be saved for touch-ups (running out during the project may result in color variations). 2) Flip pails overnight prior to application (it will be much easier to mix in the morning and will ensure consistency). 3) Do the project all at one time without starting and stopping. 4) Check the weather and make sure no rain is forecasted and it is at least 55 degrees F at night (a cold driveway will not allow the sealer to cure properly). 5) Check latexite.com for further tips and how-to videos. (Please note: if product is not available to order in your area, it is due to nighttime temperatures.).

Was nice and thick. Easy to work with. Only draw back was some of the sand style material had settled into the bottom of the pail so I had to stir the pail before using. Simply shaking and rolling the pail around was not enough.

Product is easily applied. Because of latex base it is very easy to clean up - hands and tools. The product must cure at least two full days before getting wet. I had to reapply product twice when after 30 to 36 hours rain washed away coating. In fairness I applied the sealer in mid to late November. Warmer weather may provide improved performance. We'll see how long it lasts.

Did a decent job of covering and filling small imperfections on asphalt driveway. If there is a negative I’d have to say that it seemed as though I couldn’t actually get the bottom 1/2 inch of sealer to mix and I did use proper mixing equipment as recommended on the bucket. Aside from that it did great. My driveway has a nice uniform consistency and it looks nearly new again

I applied this to a 35 year old driveway and was thoroughly impressed by the results! This inexpensive and easy project made the driveway 'new' and was a mammoth contribution to the home's curb appeal. It's been about a year since I applied the product and it's been durable. I applied approximately 500 sq ft of product in about 1.5hrs, using a squeegee for the field and a cheap broom as a brush for 'edging'. Prior to application, I had left it upside down in a hot car for a few hours and thoroughly mixed the product using a drill mixer. The asphalt substrate was thoroughly prepared by patching with 'Trowel patch' product and washing (This took ~10hrs of work). Washing was accomplished using a garden hose, dish soap as a surfactant (especially oil stains), a pushbroom for mechanical agitation/scrubbing (I did not have to use a pressure washer). This is a great DIY project with the key to success being 1) the weather forecast and 2)surface preparation.
I thought the Airport grade driveway sealer was easy to apply and beneficial.

With many cracks I needed twice as much product as recommended but I expected that. Have a couple more on hand just in case, going back to the store in the middle of it is too much drying time. Dries quickly.

Seems to produce a better quality finish than the technique that contractors typically use which is spray down. The small granules within the airport grade mix will fill up small cracks much better too.

I was very pleased with the coverage and the finished look of my driveway. I had no trouble doing the job myself, though timing the weather was a little tricky. Should have done the job a month earlier to avoid leaf fall, but still very please with the results. Would definitely use it again, and will recommend it to others with blacktop driveways. Easy to put on and has been on for a few months still looks like a new drive way. It appear to keep water from penetrating. I am very pleased and I think I will do another coat next spring. My drive way was completely leach out Andre asphalt was looking like it was going to start crumbling. Now it’s perfect. Remember prep is the most important part to insure a proper bond with any product.

Put down in early fall of ‘20. Temps were 68 day / 56 overnight for several days. So just on the borderline of manufacture’s recommendations. When down great. Cured for 48 hrs before driving on. No issues so far. Prep is key! Clean driveway and fill big cracks. This will only fill hair size cracks and provide protective coat. Looks fantastic!

Comparison review with "Optimum" grade

My driveway is about 15 years old and overall is still in decent condition. That said, about half of the surface area is considerably more pitted compared to the rest which is still fairly smooth. Because of this I chose to use the "optimum" grade on the more pitted areas and "airport" grade on the better areas. Both products result in a nice, fresh and black looking surface, but without attempting to explain precisely what difference I can see with the two, the optimum is absolutely a better product. Had I understood this difference, I would have used the optimum grade throughout. It is essential to mix with a drill powered mixer tool, period. When applying it, avoid doing so under hot sunshine because it greatly reduces how much time you have to work with it before it becomes too dry. After getting the feel for working with this stuff, I poured half of the large bucket size out. Pour it along the edge of drive way at the start followed by subsequent pours along the edge of the wet/dry pavement line. This way you don't have to stand in an area that you just finished to move the sealer to the wet/dry line of progress. Use a squeegee and pull it along the progress line changing directions, going back and forth while also working the puddles in the direction from which you are standing until the squeegee has reached it capacity to spread on pavement. Now, while it still wet, work the surface with a brush like broom having coarse bristles. I used a 7 inch deck brush with a center hole for using it with a pole. This step is what will make the difference in how long it lasts. Broom with long strokes and in crisscrossing directions making the final direction in sync with the previous sections.

I sealed the apron to two driveways < 400 sq ft and I used every drop of 3 buckets. Granted the driveway had not been sealed before but wow it sucked it up. Get more than you think you need and return if if you don't use it.

In the harsh winters of the Northeast, your lucky to get 2 years before you have to patch and seal again. This is the middle of the road sealer, and it’s works well. We followed the directions and the result was outstanding. I spent a couple of days filling in large and medium sized cracks, the driveway is over 20 years old, which was actually the hardest part. We spread the sealer on a hot day and it was surprisingly easy and fast. I highly recommend this product.
